The waste today:
Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) includes recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, cans and other uncontaminated recyclable items. This waste type excludes glass, food waste and any items contaminated with food or liquids.
The resource tomorrow:
The DMR waste is collected and transported to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) where it is sorted, baled, and sent to recycling facilities to be recycled in the UK. The materials are processed and can be used to make new products, reducing the need for virgin materials.
